Learn to Sail Dinghies for Adults - $200

Service Description

New for 2026 we offer a beginner class for adults in the afternoons out of the Lake Forest Boat Ramp from noon to 5 PM Saturdays and Sundays in Club 420s and RS Zests. This is a great course if you aspire to sail other dinghies such as the Laser. Smaller sailboats like the 2 person Club 420 and singlehanded Laser do not have a heavy lead keel to keep them upright so they are more exciting to sail and you will be capsizing and swimming. Wetsuits are mandatory so you will need a shorty or a full body 2/3 mm that fits. If you don't relish the idea of swimming then the larger keelboats are a better option to learn on. Sign up for our week long adult class on the Melges 24 for $600 instead where the class size is only 4 people as opposed to 8 in the dinghy class. For this class, the curriculum is as follows: Day 1 Wind Direction Puffs/Lulls, How to Rig the Boat, How to self Rescue Day 2 How to Launch and come back to the beach, How to Steer and Trim Sails Sign up for multiple weekends to level up your skills!
